This is my first time using your service and you got it right!! I think they were set in a small town. This illustrated book was read to my kindergarten class in 1951. The books are about 300 pages long. The narrator isn't sure whether they're real, but thinks she just barely sees the movement of one once. And the reason he didn't like the lovely city was that whichever way he looked there was water---in the fountains and the streams and other places, too.
